About This Website

Welcome to Pattern of Sound Words, a website dedicated to biblical, Lutheran theology. The name for this website was chosen on the basis of St. Paul’s mandate to St. Timothy to “hold fast to the pattern of sound words” (2 Timothy 1:13).

My name is Alexander (Alex) Blanken. I am a pastor serving in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), a church body that confesses the inspiration and inerrancy of Holy Scripture and that confesses the Book of Concord (1580) as an accurate summary of the doctrine of Holy Scripture. As such, all posts on the website assume the inspiration and inerrancy of Holy Scripture as prolegomena. Also, you will find frequent references to the Lutheran Confessions in my posts and translations.
